Re: Shelley Jackson's SKIN project
Fri, October 24, 2003 - 7:10 AMI think it's cool, although that would suck if your word was "the" or "stupid."
At least it would be interesting to explain to someone why you have the word "preposterous" tattooed on your shoulder. -

Fri, October 24, 2003 - 3:16 PMI actually signed up a while ago, and my word is, in fact, "The". I kinda like it. -

Re: Shelley Jackson's SKIN project
Sat, October 25, 2003 - 1:21 PMI can't decide if I want to sign up or not. I keep vacillating on this issue. On the one hand I love words, and I love experimental and participatory art. On the other hand I don't know if I want to be known as a "word" and I don't know how comfortable I am with being permanently branded with someone else's idea of art. -

Sat, October 25, 2003 - 7:05 PMIf you're not 100%, I'd say definitely don't do it. Vacillation and tattoos don't mix.

Re: Shelley Jackson's SKIN project
Fri, October 24, 2003 - 8:47 AM<i>"From this time on, participants will be known as "words". They are not understood as carriers or agents of the texts they bear, but as its embodiments. As a result, injuries to the printed texts, such as dermabrasion, laser surgery, tattoo cover work or the loss of body parts, will not be considered to alter the work. Only the death of words effaces them from the text. As words die the story will change; when the last word dies the story will also have died. The author will make every effort to attend the funerals of her words. "</i>
