It's more exciting if you follow the juicier, more emotionally charged, and possibly inaccurate ramblings on LiveJournal.

Warren Ellis was just given a free home there, and he says he is aware of all the "scandals" happening. One thing Xeni doesn't mention, that I have seen in the LJ peeps coverage, is that the founder, "Missy" is a guy; it seems weird to use a feminine nick as a founder of a feminist positive site, but actually be male -- unless I'm missing some transgendered backroung here. Or, again, it could simply be bad data.

Whoa Bwana, that is kind of a kick in the head. It has potentially funky implications, but it all depends... just like you point out, but whew!

It was bugging me, so I peeked in at my standard Thirty Seconds of Research spot:
        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_Girls

"The SuicideGirls website and concept was created by SG Services, Inc. the company's sole owner and president "Sean Suicide" (Sean Suhl) and then girlfriend, photographer "Missy Suicide" (Selena Mooney) in late 2001, and based in Portland, Oregon. In 2003, the site operations moved to Los Angeles, California. They perhaps facetiously claim they started the site "just to see hot punk rock girls naked." Mooney has also stated that the purpose of the site is to give women control over how their sexuality is depicted. It has been reported that the site is privately co-owned by Steve Simitzis (server admin and SG user, "s5") and his wife Olivia Ball (site programmer and SuicideGirl, "Olivia"). Other partners include Peter Luttrell of 3jane.com, where Suhl holds the title of VP of Creative Services."

So, I am not remembering where I read that Sean went by the name of "Missy," but it appears that they are two distinct people.

As for the rest of the controversies, they are covered in less emotional terms at that link.
